Employment History

 

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Inc. – Associate Analyst Engineer                      

Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2018-Present)

  • Responsible for running quality check studies, evaluating structural integrity, and providing part durability recommendations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Provide stress, modal, and forensic analysis, optimization, and theoretical studies.

  • Use CAD programs for the design of current and future products (motorcycles, engines, chasses, and peripherals) including prototyping and refining designs for manufacturing.

  • Designed and implemented an awareness program that is improving the communication between the FEA team and Design Engineers.

  • Communications Lead for Harley-Davidson’s Women’s Affinity Group. Significantly increased awareness, access, and the feeling of inclusion for staff.

  • Harley-Davidson advisor for Scout programs and STEM outreach initiatives.

 

Design for America – National Speaker and Small Group Organizer            

  • Currently lead webinars for the National Design for America (DFA) community.

  • Provide training and expertise around scoping projects, user research, narrowing problem statements, and engaging community partnership.

DEKA Research and Development Corporation – Engineering Intern

Manchester, New Hampshire (Summer 2017)

  • Responsible for preparing and manufacturing and 3D CAD files and 2D drawings for medical devices.

  • Organized, analyzed, and implemented engineering and quality assurance testing for an innovative new medical device (leading up to a national launch).

 

Tsai Center for Innovation and Tech – Human Centered Design Intern

Yale University New Haven, Connecticut (2017)

  • In charge of researching and implementing design decisions for Tsai CITY.  Delivered design curriculum, design of the physical space, and completion of a research project.

 

Center for Engineering Innovation and Design – Engineering Design Aid

Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (2015-2017)

  • Designed and led workshops, provided training and supervision for 3D printers and engineering/design lab and equipment.  Supervised users, monitored safety procedures and practices. Responsible for the design of training materials for the 2017 school year.

Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) – Model Shop Intern

New York, New York  (Summer 2016)

  • Responsible for designing and building models for design studies and client meetings. RAMSA is consistently ranked in the top 50 of Architecture firms.

TSAI CITY Business Accelerator - Founder

Yale University New Haven, Connecticut (Summer 2018)

  • Selected via a competitive pitch-off and funded to participate in a business accelerator program (mini-MBA).  Implemented business plan, design, social media presence, and marketing plan for Rosie River Boots (rosieriverboots.com).

 

Yale Turboarcjet – Design Team (2018)

  • Built and tested an electric engine that uses arcjet technology. Responsible for developing test rigs, data collection methods and analysis, testing, bill of materials, setting deadlines.

 

User Centric Design Engineer – Yale Independent Research Project (2017)

  • Through analysis of geometric data and user centric design created a headband attachment for headphones that provides for a larger degree of motion while minimizing the headphone size.

  • Designed and developed course material to teaches students (at a wide variety of ages/levels) fabrication and rapid prototyping through 3D printing.

Yale Autonomous Vehicle Club – Design Team (2014-2015)

  • Designed, researched, and fabricated and autonomous sailboat.  Responsible for designing building the hull mold and mold baking oven and the carbon fiber layup. Created and maintained Bill of Materials

 

Center for Engineering and Innovation and Design - Fellowship

Yale University New Haven, Connecticut (Summer 2015)

  • Researched, designed and manufactured a compact UVC LED water disinfection and purification device that uses existing water pressure for power (allowing use in remote areas).

 

Virtual Experiences Research Group – Independent Research Univ. of Florida

  • Researched impact of using grammatical statistics to improve Natural Language Processing. Refined medical skills through analysis of human-computer interactions.

 

Design for America (DFA) – Yale University Chapter

National program that uses Human Centered Design Processes to identify user needs, provide potential solutions, create prototypes and implement solutions.

 

Studio Lead (President) 2015-2018

  • Responsible for organizing projects, mentors, community partners, weekly lessons, speakers, and events across Yale.  Responsible for communication with National Chapter. Managed a $4,000 budget, a 35 student studio, and 6 full scale projects a year.

  • Dramatically increased successful projects (by 50%) and the multi-disciplinary nature by 20%. Implemented a leadership board, a succession plan, and significantly improved retention rates.

 

Project Lead

  • Led numerous teams of 6-8 members through the design process.

  • Responsible for designing tools used in creating proper customer personas, stake holder assessments, user interviews, brainstorming ideas, prototyping, analytics and measuring the impact of potential solutions.  A few notable projects include:

  • Increasing Veteran’s receptiveness to fitness

  • Reducing trauma felt by children in shelters

  • Redesigning a clothing closet (Project won a national $20,000 funding award)

 

Aetna Foundation Grant Project – Spring 2017

  • Responsible for developing a social entrepreneurship curriculum for High School students.  Created and taught lessons around the Human Centered Design Process.
